The green area of Gradac Park is one of the few entirely undeveloped sites in the immediate vicinity of Dubrovnik’s historic core. The project envisions the creation of a continuous green belt that connects different parts of the park while highlighting the contrast between the natural landscape and the urban fabric of the city. The design respects the park’s original horticultural structure and historic pathways, which are preserved and only slightly adjusted to provide a more comfortable and natural flow for movement and rest. Gradac Park is conceived as a space for walking, contemplation, and views—a sequence of light, vegetation, and framed vistas towards the sea and the city.

At the prominent plateau near the park’s entrance, an open-air amphitheatre is proposed—a new urban stage oriented towards Fort Lovrijenac. Embedded within the terrain, it preserves the surrounding views while becoming a new focal point for cultural gatherings and events. In addition to the amphitheatre, the proposal includes the redesign of the entrance plateau with a fountain, viewpoint, and supporting facilities, as well as the construction of a semi-underground parking garage. Through these interventions, Gradac Park is reimagined as a contemporary, accessible, and vibrant public space that harmoniously unites the tradition, nature, and culture of Dubrovnik.
